The process for the safeguarding of children and young people is now recognised as part of ecclesial, CYC camp and Bible/youth weekend committee responsibilities. All those involved with youth work should be aware of or will have already applied for or are registered with the Government’s Disclosure and Barring Service. More information is available by emailing dbs.enquiries@chsn.org.uk.

Having effective policy and procedures are just the start: good practice  will involve regular documented training of both youth workers and specifically of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

The CSN is now able to offer a training day for DSLs and others who wish to become more aware of their safeguarding responsibilities.

The aim of the day is to:

provide an overview and update on Safeguarding Guidance for children and young people
explain the role and responsibilities of the Designated Safeguarding Lead and give guidance on training youth leaders
understand the expectations and consider “good practice” for those working with children and   young people and
provide an opportunity to network, share experiences and have questions answered

A CSN certificate of training will be provided for those who attend.

Further information is available from gill.holden@chsn.org.uk

Refreshments will be provided but please bring your own lunch.
