The safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults is an essential part of ecclesial, Sunday school, CYC, camp and Bible/Youth weekend committee responsibilities. Most ecclesias/committees now have processes and policies in place for dealing with these responsibilities. We recognise some are still very new to this and that it’s not an easy/simple topic for anyone.

Many of those involved with youth work have already DBS checks in place and are registered with the online update service through the Government’s Disclosure and Barring Service. Again a few are new to this and a number have still to take this up. Having effective policy and procedures are just the start: there is statutory guidance for regular documented training of both youth workers and specifically for the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

The CSN can support ecclesias and committees in this complex area and offer this further training event for DSLs and others who wish to become more aware of their safeguarding responsibilities.

The aim of the event is to:

  • provide a refresher on Safeguarding to comply with statutory guidance
  • explain the role and responsibilities of the Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • understand the expectations and consider 'good practice'.
  • provide hints and tips on the development of guidance on policy/guidelines
  • provide an opportunity to network, share experiences and have questions answered

Booking is required please by 9th October 2022 to give time for the issue of a Prereading pack.

Questions and issues can be submitted beforehand to  or on the booking form.

A CSN certificate of training will be provided for those who attend.
